Cosmic Crusader: Quest of the Crystals

Presenting Cosmic Crusader: Quest for the Crystals, my 2D platformer project developed as part of Coursera's 2020 Game Design and Development with Unity Specialization. Building upon the foundation laid in the initial level demo, I've meticulously enhanced the gameplay experience by implementing the following key improvements:

1.    Expanded Levels: Level 1 has been significantly expanded, and two additional levels have been crafted, each brimming with a unique array of traps meticulously designed and programmed by yours truly. Moreover, I've introduced a thrilling boss level featuring custom animations and two distinct projectile attacks accompanied by immersive sound effects. With a total of four levels, players can now embark on a journey of escalating challenges and excitement.

2.    Immersive Environmental Effects: To enrich the player experience, I've incorporated captivating environmental elements such as teleportation portals, seamlessly integrating them into the gameplay mechanics with carefully crafted animations and intuitive logic. Additionally, players can now discover jetpack power-ups enabling temporary flight by holding down the space bar. Furthermore, I've introduced dynamic hazards like retractable metal spikes, each with its own unique animation and timing, as well as rotating platforms adding a layer of dynamic movement and strategy to the levels. Moreover, there are ground elements that disappear when the player has stood on them too long. Finally, space has a different gravity than inside of the ships do.

3.  Polished UI Enhancements: Recognizing the importance of user interface elements in guiding players and enhancing immersion, I've implemented various UI enhancements. Notably, the boss's health is now prominently displayed during the climactic showdown, ensuring players remain informed and engaged. Additionally, I've integrated story into previously empty instructions and credits into the main title menu, providing players with essential guidance and acknowledging contributions.

With these enhancements, Cosmic Crusader: Quest for the Crystals promises an engaging and immersive gaming experience, inviting players to embark on an unforgettable journey filled with challenges, excitement, and discovery.
